make getting things they want for their kids easy for parents, while simultaneously lessening the cost of raising kids, and helping reduce the environmental impact of waste.

The idea came …
seeing how much stuff you accumulate when you have kids, and wanting to develop a community beyond the traditional bounds of family and friends for ‘hand-me-downs’, where items that are no longer needed still maintain value, when they are exchanged for those that are.

The easiest way to explain SwapItBaby is…
An online swap community for parents that combines the luxury of choice, in a greatly extended community, with saving money, and makes sharing easy and fun.

The biggest misperception about SwapItBaby is…
that it’s a traditional swap site that requires direct swaps. We actually work on a credit system, so people can get whatever they need whenever they need it, without waiting.

The best moment so far is…
I’m thrilled every time a swapper tells me how much they like the site: I don’t think anything beats that!

The biggest challenge to overcome is…
achieving critical mass on a shoe-string budget.

Another example of Collaborative Consumption I admire is …
car sharing. I love it.

What do you think the flow-on benefit are for members of the SwapItBaby community?…
There’s the potential for lessening expenditure, as well as the great sense of sharing, and potentially a shift in the concept of ownership.
