Sydney’s Pop-up Brands regenerates neighbourhoods using vacant spaces


Sydney-based Pop-up Brands is a digital marketplace for commercial operators and enterprises to list and finding short-term or ‘pop-up’ commercial spaces of all kinds. Commercial brokers and space owners list their short-term spaces and space seekers find and place booking enquiries directly with space owners.

Pop-up Brands was excited to be among five finalists selected to help the city of Barcelona address their challenge of revitalizing vacant spaces. In early 2013, Pop-up Brands submitted a solution entitled “Activating vacant spaces by creating opportunities for economic growth and employment” which was one of 2,500+ solutions submitted to address the challenges of 22 global cities.

This process is part of the fourth edition of the LLGA|Cities Pilot the Future program and – an innovative approach to solving global urban challenges. The objective of is to connect cities and solution providers around the world. According to Sascha Haselmayer, co-founder: “Our vision is a marketplace in which high-impact solutions to improve lives spread rapidly across cities.”
